High-Stability Deuterium Lamps
Stability 10 times higher... Noise levels from a conventional deuterium lamp are 2 x 10-4 AU. The DS 200 series made by Heraeus Noblelight offers 10 times lower noise levels.

The DS 200 series is a further development of the DO 200, which itself was developed to offer high intensity and low noise.
By limiting the spectral output to 200 nm by means of a built-in filter (Heraeus Patent No. US 4.910.431 and EP 290 669), ozone noise is completely eliminated. The use of an all new cathode has now further reduced plasma noise to 10-6 AU (0.005% p-p).
The low noise is achieved for all aperture sizes and for shine-through deuterium lamps. DS 200 series lamps have the same electrical specifications as the series DO 200 lamps, so that DS 200 lamps may be used in any installation in which DO 200 lamps are used.
This applies also to pre-aligned lamps in existing instruments, meaning that these instruments can also benefit from the low noise levels available. The DS 200 series is especially valuable for use in high resolution HPLC, capillary electrophoresis and UV-spectrometry.
